Extension Permissions
We believe in transparency. Here's exactly what permissions Axibly requires and why:
activeTab
Allows the extension to access the current tab only when you click the Axibly icon. We can only see the page you're actively testing, never your other tabs.
storage
Saves your scan history locally in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is only used to show you your past scans.
scripting
Required to inject the accessibility testing engine (axe-core) into the page you're testing. This is how we analyze the page for WCAG violations.
sidePanel
Enables the side panel interface where you can view your scan results alongside the page you're testing.
identity
Used only for the optional Pro features (coming soon). The free version works without any sign-in.
Privacy commitment: Axibly never collects, transmits, or stores any data from the pages you scan. All analysis happens locally in your browser.
Understanding Your Results
After scanning a page, Axibly categorizes issues by severity to help you prioritize fixes:
Issues that completely block access for some users. These should be fixed immediately.
Issues that cause significant difficulty for users with disabilities. High priority to fix.
Issues that cause some difficulty. Should be addressed but not as urgent.
Issues with minimal impact but still worth fixing for the best user experience.
